1. Check the certification mark
China Environmental Labeling Certification (Ten-Ring Certification): This is one of the most authoritative environmental product certification marks in China. If the UV board product carries the Ten-Ring Certification Mark, it means that the product meets the national environmental protection standards during the production process, and has undergone strict review in resource utilization, energy consumption, waste disposal and other links. The overall impact on the environment is small, and the release of its harmful substances is also within the prescribed safety range.
International Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification (if it is a wooden UV board): For UV boards based on wood, FSC certification is a good reference indicator. It ensures that the wood comes from sustainably managed forests, which means that in the process of wood harvesting and processing, the principles of environmental protection and sustainable development are followed, and no excessive damage is caused to the forest ecosystem.
2. Detect formaldehyde emission
Reference standard: According to national standards, the formaldehyde emission limit value of E1-grade boards is ≤0.124mg/m³, and the formaldehyde emission limit value of E0-grade boards is ≤0.05mg/m³. If the formaldehyde emission of the UV board can reach the E0 or E1 standard, it means that it is qualified in terms of environmental performance. Some high-quality UV boards have even lower formaldehyde emission.
Detection method:
Perforation extraction method: This is a relatively accurate laboratory detection method, which is mainly used to detect the formaldehyde emission of artificial boards. The formaldehyde emission of the board is obtained by crushing the board sample, extracting it with organic solvents such as toluene, and then analyzing the formaldehyde content in the extract. However, this method requires professional laboratory equipment and technicians to operate.
Dryer method: It is relatively simple. A UV board sample of a certain size is placed in a dryer. After being placed under specific temperature and humidity conditions for a certain period of time, the formaldehyde emission of the board is estimated by detecting the formaldehyde content in the air in the dryer. Although this method is not as accurate as the perforation extraction method, it can also be used as a preliminary detection method. Consumers can buy some simple formaldehyde detection kits for testing.
